Yalumba Y Series Shiraz 2009
88 points - "There’s no mention of viognier on the label of this terrific-value shiraz – but it has all the characteristics of a shiraz-viognier blend. It’s soft and floral, perfumed and easy to quaff. It’s a very pretty wine at a very pretty price. It tastes/smells of violets and plums, cherries and boysenberry. It has a sappy, cedary quality that I can take or leave – but I have no hesitation in recommending this. Drink : 2011-2013."

BLOODY GOOD - "The three Yalumba shiraz featured in Quaff are all mightily impressive for the third year in succession. This has been Bloody Good for four years. There's an attractive lightness of touch, a brightness to this red: gentle floral perfumes, lively blackberry pastille, dark plum flavours that are rich and concentrated, fleshy texture, and a balanced, classy finish."
Peter Forrestal, Quaff 2011 (Aus), September 2010
85 points - "Presenting a medium-deep garnet-purple color, the 2009 The Y Series Shiraz gives intense blueberry and blackberry pie aromas – quite fruity and warm – with whiffs of tar and anise. A good backbone of high acidity and medium-firm fine grained tannins support the medium bodied moderate amount of flesh, finishing long. Good now, it should keep to 2014."
